See my ART at Raices Brewery in Denver Through May 2021.

Friends, family, art aficionados, great news! A selection of my paintings are currently on view at Raices Brewery in Denver, Colorado. It is an honor to show my work in such a vital cultural center in our capitol city. Raices Cerveceria has a vital mission of community outreach, integration and collaboration. The beautiful interior space of the brewery is an architectural gem! The high vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows provide a lovely space and for gathering and for art installations. I am so excited for my art to be there and to adorn this wonderful place.

This is the first time I have the privilege to show at a Latino culture-centric space, which allows me to draw attention to my latin background, having been born in Costa Rica, and growing up in Miami, Florida. My latino roots are a very important part of my life, and have fueled my creativity and personal art vision. I’m excited to be a part of an upcoming interview at the brewery, which will air on Facebook live, on Saturday May 16, at 1:30 pm. I hope to share more about my background and the aim of my work.

Portrait of Mary Rippon, University of Colorado Professor

Happy 2021! So glad to be here, still posting images of new art and blogging about it.

I had the opportunity in 2020 to create a community service project that I could donate to the Boulder County, where I am based in Colorado. I decided to make a painting and I chose to paint a portrait of Mary Rippon, an important person in the Boulder lore, who was part of the early days of this fair city.

Mary Rippon was the first female professor at the University of Colorado in Boulder and one of the first women to teach at a state university. In 1878, she taught German and English there. She lead a quietly remarkable life, forced to choose between her career and having a family. She is an icon of the early pioneers of Boulder. The Mary Rippon Outdoor Theater—home to the Colorado Shakespeare Festival—is named in her honor.

Once I learn where the painting will be displayed, I will share the information. Thank you for your visit!

New Art, and where to see it.

It is always good to unveil a new piece of art, and it’s so great to do it on a personal platform, behold: Glaukopis, 2019; a new painting by yours truly. An electric vision!

I will hold back any comments on the painting at this time, to give the viewer some time to take it in, and develop their own ideas and feelings about this piece, which I hope can provide a lingering visual memory you can take with you, when not in it’s presence.

With that said, I have the pleasure of inviting you, the viewer, to see the work in person, if you happen to be in Boulder, Colorado, where the painting is on view currently at Green Eyed Motors. Which is so serendipitous, because there has always been the question, what color were Pallas Athene’s eyes? Perhaps there existed an extraordinary shade of green that was indescribable? Musings notwithstanding, this aptly named car dealer has been a dedicated small business in Boulder for over a decade, and it is a pleasure to have the opportunity to show my art, in such a lovely and ‘gallery-esque’ showroom. I encourage everyone to visit this location.
